My real name is Michelle. Miao is a nickname from my first job, originating from a email typo.

Today: I’m the founder of DayZero, an AI-native financial operating system for scaling small businesses, specializing in the consumer goods space. Bookkeeping, inventory, and CFO insights in one place. We are going to be the AI intelligence that your brand runs on - and we’re not that far.

Before this: four years in investment banking and private equity (LionTree, True Wind), then two years at a VC-backed ecommerce aggregator (Aestuary). Wharton undergrad. Based in New York.

I write here about what I see — the AI in finance, the finance in AI, the operator life, my Claude hacks and the woo-woo stuff that doesn’t fit anywhere else.
